One of my favorite food blogs, which writes about seasonal food, caught my eye with an interesting recipe - rhubarb sauce for bbq steaks, pickling. I adjusted it according to my taste and the amount of products available. I marinated lamb steaks in it, and when grilling, I also coated them on both sides, very aromatic steaks with an oriental taste were obtained, which we ate with rhubarb chutney. I think this sauce would also go well with pork.

INGREDIENTS
- 250 g of rhubarb
- 1 blue onion
- 0.5 cups of brown sugar
- 50 ml of honey
- 50 ml vinegar (I used apple)
- 0.5 tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 0.5 tbsp. ground chili pepper
- 0.5 tsp of salt
- 0.5 tbsp of thyme
- a piece of ginger (about 5 cm)
PREPARATION
I peeled and cut the rhubarb and the onion. I put all the ingredients in a pot and cooked for about 30-40 minutes until the sauce became smooth and thick enough.
The original recipe recommends further blending the sauce with a blender, but I liked its consistency anyway.
The sauce was enough for me to marinate and spread on 6 lamb steaks while cooking.
For those who want to make more of this sauce, it should be poured into sterile, clean jars, tightly closed and stored in a dark, cool place.
Delicious steaks!
